Debuting at the Geneva Motor Show of March 1971, the 365 GTC/4 was intended to strike a middle ground between Ferrari’s outgoing four-seat 365 GT 2+2 and the concurrent 365 Daytona. The GTC/4 is generally acknowledged to be a genteel around-town Ferrari yet is capable of an impressive top speed of 163 mph. With only 500 examples produced over a two-year period, the 365 GTC/4 was manufactured in less than one-third of the quantity of the Daytona, giving it the edge over its esteemed stable mate in rarity.
Models for export to the United States were fitted with three-point seat belts, side markers and a number of engine modifications to comply with Federal emission standards, including air injection, carbon canister for evaporative emission control and a different exhaust system. On US-specification cars power was down to 320 bhp from 340 bhp.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Front engine rear wheel drive front longitudinal, naturally aspirated Tipo F101 60 V12 DOHC 2 valves per cylinder 6 side draught weber 38 DCOE Carburetors, Engine block and cylinder heads were aluminum alloy, with cast iron pressed-in sleeves, chain-driven two overhead camshafts per bank (four in total, as noted by the “4” in the model designation). The 5-speed all-synchronized manual transmission was bolted to the engine, another difference from the Daytona which used a transaxle. The gearbox was rigidly connected to the alloy housing of the rear differential through a torque tube.
