MODEL HISTORY

Jensen was founded by two brothers, Alan and Richard Jensen who were born in 1906 and 1909. They became interested in cars at an early age, and so in 1930 their father set them up in their first business, Patrick Jensen Motors, based at Edgbaston. They ran the business with Joe Patrick, but moved on the following year after a disagreement. The business specialized in custom-built bodies for a range of readily available car chassis made by a range of manufacturers including Morris, Singer, Standard, and Wolseley. In 1934 the brothers received a commission from American actor Clark Gable to him build a special car, on a Ford V8 chassis.

Equipment

This 1971 Jensen Interceptor Mrk. II  is brand new.

This is a rotisserie restoration. The car is a ground up build and was striped back to bare metal. Every part of this car has been fully overhauled and reworked for power, drivability and modern day fast road motoring, a true GT “Grand Tourer”.

The original Chrysler 383 cubic inch engine has been rebuilt and brought up to apx. 540hp featuring aluminum high rise intake and topped with a Holley performance carburetor. This engine has custom made headers attached to high flow dual 3 inch exhaust with sport mufflers, a high output MSD electronic ignition and custom Serpentine belt system with all upgraded accessories. The cooling system has been upgraded to a high capacity aluminum radiator with twin electric cooling fans. The 727 original Torqueflight is a 3-Speed automatic that was upgraded with a stall converter and modified valve body. The rear end has been upgraded to a Moser 9 inch rear featuring a foil link suspension system with fully adjustable coil overs and Willwood 4 piston disc brakes. For the front suspension and brakes we have gone to a tubular control arm and upgraded fully adjustable coil overs and Willwood 4 piston disc brake matching the rear. Wheels are replicas of the original design in a seventeen by nine and three quarter inch, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport 245/45-ZR17 tires. The body has been refinished in  Porsche GT Silver with a gloss black top. Front and rear bumper delete, side marker lights added, one off front splitter and hood scoop. All exterior and interior lighting has been upgraded to LEDs and HID headlights. The original leather interior was in prime condition complimented by new carpets, a refinished dash and upgraded stereo sound system with, bluetooth, satellite radio, phone compatibility and an independent GPS navigation system. The speakers have been upgraded to Alpine Type Rs with a 10 inch subwoofer in a hand built flush mounted enclosure. The two amplifiers combined peak at 2,800 watts total power. The complete interior has been Dynamatted. Custom wired harasses and fuse panel to run the vehicle was built from the ground up to alleviate the known Locus electrical issues. The steering wheel is a Moto-Lita.

FAST AND FURIOUS

As seen in The Fast and Furious, our build was designed with classic looks and history in mind, combined with modern drivability, impressive performance matching todays grand touring sedans. This is a hand built British Gentleman’s tourer fitted with good old American muscle.
