This 1962 Porsche 356B is a Karmann-bodied coupe that was acquired by the current owner in 1990 and was repainted in the mid 2010s. The car sat as a stalled project for a number of years before being recommissioned in December 2023, and work included rebuilding the shifter assembly and carburetors, installing the glass and interior, and replacing the fuel tank and pump. It is finished in Ivory over red leather upholstery and is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes ventilated 15″ steel wheels with polished hubcaps, Cibie headlights, dual decklid grilles, and VDO instrumentation. This 356B is now offered on dealer consignment with manufacturer’s literature and New York registration, listing it as a 1963 model.

The car was finished from the factory in Ivory (6204) and was repainted around 2015. The glass was installed in December 2023, and exterior details include body-color bumpers with chrome guards, as well as Cibie headlights, vented rear windows, twin rear decklid grilles, gold rear badging, and a Karmann badge affixed to the right fender. The windshield wiper motor was noted to not work on a December 2023 service invoice.

Chrome 15″ ventilated steel wheels wear Porsche-branded hubcaps and 165-series Centred Metric Radial tires. Braking is provided by drums at all four corners. The left front wheel bearing was repaired and the parking brake connected in December 2023.

The cabin houses front bucket seats and fold-down rear seats that were re-trimmed in red leather upholstery with black piping. The seats, interior panels, and red and black carpets were installed in December 2023, at which time the shifter assembly was rebuilt. The radio has been removed.

The three-spoke steering wheel wears a worn lace-up cover and frames VDO instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a combination gauge for oil temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 97k miles.

The air-cooled 1.6L flat-four is equipped with dual carburetors that were rebuilt in December 2023. The fuel tank and pump were replaced at that time.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.

The car does not have a title, as it is located in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its New York registration, which expired in April 1991.
